This has continued in adaptations, with few DC projects so much as mentioning him, let alone giving him a prominent role. Though he was able to get his friend to the chapel, Dr. Mid-Nite didn't convince him to change his religious beliefs, or lack thereof.
Along with serving as a member of the Justice Society, he also worked with the shadowy group Checkmate and served as its White King.
When asked about Darwin's controversial fate, the actor humorously responded, "Oh, we don't talk about that. After that, Curtis met an SCPD police officer Nick Anastas, whom he later married. Mr. Nevertheless, time travel allowed him to meet Terry Sloane, who was honored that Michael Holt was the new Mr. Terrific.
Michael Holt became something of a mentor to Courtney Whitmore, aka Stargirl.
Though he retained the aspect of being a former Olympic athlete, he was mostly just an awkward hacker who took the role once occupied by Felicity. Contaminated with energy from the Dark Multiverse, the group learns that they have to remain in the same vicinity as each other, having been literally bound together. As a child, he loved his older brother Jeffrey, who was neurodivergent and whose death had a dramatic impact on Michael.
There are two.
The first, Terry Sloane, was a Golden Age mystery man, gifted with a photographic memory and known as the “Man of 1,000 Talents.” Terry was murdered by the Spirit King in a particularly bad Justice League/Justice Society team-up in the 1980s.
It seems much more likely that his successor, Michael Holt, will be appearing, especially given “Arrow” executive producer Greg Berlanti’s working partnership with DC Entertainment Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns.
While Johns didn’t create Michael Holt, he, more than any other writer, developed and scripted the character in the monthly “JSA” and “Justice Society” titles.
Michael Holt has been the face of Mr.
Terrific for almost the last 20 years, an Olympic Gold-medal winning decathlete, technological genius, millionaire and martial arts expert turned crime-fighter in the wake of personal tragedy. He also became the chairman, showcasing how he had ingratiated himself into the group's dynamic. After all, he was the only one who didn't have a close connection with his predecessor, making him somewhat separate from his own legacy.
Over a decade ago, Gathegi played another superhero in a completely different franchise, this time under the Marvel banner. Ironically, Cross was a devout Catholic and actually invited Michael to church. He even worked alongside Batman (a business rival in his identity of Bruce Wayne), with Terrific able to take control of the O.M.A.C.
Mr. Terrific has also been a big part of the newest Justice Society adventures, as he was instrumental in recruiting former villains such as Icicle. He also became the chairman, showcasing how he had ingratiated himself into the group's dynamic. This was similar to how he was handled in Justice League Action, where his intellect and general character were adapted, with a slight redesign.
This came in the form of the "Lost Children," who were all former sidekicks of the Golden Age Justice Society members that had been captured and lost to time. Archie Comics’ Kevin Keller or DC’s Midnighter are good examples – they started as gay characters, and it would be all-but-impossible for anything but a clod of a writer to try to shove them back in the closet.
Though there will always be debates as to who ranks where in the hierarchy of intelligent DC characters, there is no argument that Mister Terrific is very high on the list. Writer James Robinson made original Green Lantern, Alan Scott, gay to compensate for the loss of his gay son in the “Earth 2” reboot.
I’m the last one to have a problem with gay heroes.
